EU sanctions and the no re-export to Russia requirements

The EU has extended the scope of its sanctions against Russia by requiring EU parties that are selling or leasing aircraft to most countries outside the EU to prohibit the re-export of those aircraft to Russia.

These requirements will have retrospective effect on some transactions.

The EU published guidance on the sanctions on 22 February 2024.

This briefing discusses these Article 12g Sanctions to the extent that they impact upon sales and leases of aircraft and certain parts thereof.
