India’s strong economic growth in recent years has led to a surge in incoming foreign investment and an even sharper increase in Indian companies expanding their operations overseas.

This dynamic environment calls for a new approach to providing expert legal advice and support to companies with global growth ambitions. Clients need help to complete complex cross-border deals and resolve difficult commercial disputes, backed by access to trusted legal services on the ground in India itself. Allen & Overy has been quick to respond.

Our India Group is made up of some 100 partners and associates - India specialists drawn from across our international network of offices, particularly Dubai, Hong Kong, London, Singapore and New York, who have a long track record of working on India-related matters.

These lawyers cover the full range of practice areas in which A&O excels, including foreign direct investment, M&A, banking, capital markets, litigation, arbitration and employment, and also the full range of business sectors, including energy, infrastructure, mining, financial institutions, private equity, insurance, telecoms, media and technology, real estate and life sciences. They are ideally placed to act as leading international counsel on transformational, cross-border deals.

Our India expertise has resulted in us playing a lead role in many high-profile deals and disputes in recent years, acting for some of India's most prestigious companies and financial institutions. We've also been leading advisers to some of the biggest inward investors into India.

Regulation prohibits us from practising Indian law ourselves or from having our own office in India, but we enjoy good working relationships with the leading Indian law firms which allows us to provide a seamless and full range of legal services to clients, helping them grow both within India and across the world.
