Allen & Overy advises on Cordiant Digital's Czech portfolio expansion
Allen & Overy announced today that it advised Maspex Group, the largest private company in the food industry in Poland and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe, on its acquisition of the Becherovka brand and related assets from Pernod Ricard, including the production and logistics facilities in Karlovy Vary.
Becherovka is a legendary herbal liqueur and the oldest alcohol brand in the Czech Republic. This transaction marks Maspex’s 21st acquisition, and its 12th conducted abroad. The closing of the transaction remains subject to the customary conditions and is expected to occur before the end of June 2024.
The A&O team was led from the Warsaw office by senior associate Joanna Kaleta supervised by corporate partner Jarosław Iwanicki, and included associates Jan Spierzak and Mateusz Kwolek. The Warsaw Competition team included partner Marta Sendrowicz, senior associate Olga Wiśniewska-Łukasiuk and associate Jacek Mainardi. The A&O Prague office’s corporate team included senior associate Jakub Cech and junior lawyer Jan Spousta. Senior associate Ivana Halamova Dobiskova advised on the Czech competition law aspects of the transaction. French law advice was provided by the A&O Paris corporate team, including partner Marc Castagnede, associate Antoine Messent and counsel Laurie-Anne Ancenys. Senior associate Andrea Dufaure & A&O Consultant Marianne Delassaussé advised on the French IP law aspects. German IP law advice was provided by senior associate Anna Kräling.
