Sandra Smits is an Associate in the International Arbitration team at Allen & Overy in London. Sandra advises on international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, as well as public international law. She has participated in arbitrations under the rules of various institutions, including those of the ICC and ICSID, as well as the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Sandra has an active pro bono practice, with a focus on international criminal justice and human rights. She also served on the editorial board of the ninth edition of Allen & Overy’s Business and Human Rights Review.

Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Sandra worked at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs. She has a BSc in International Relations and MSc in Global Politics, both from the London School of Economics.
