Women in Funds: Conversation with Jeanette Bruns, Head of Debt Fund Management at Deka Immobilien Investment GmbH

In the next episode of “Women in Funds”, funds & asset management partner Dorothee Atwell and associate Ruth Rawas, both based in Frankfurt, have a discussion with Jeanette Bruns, Head of Debt Fund Management at Deka.

The conversation revolves around a number of topics, including the importance of mentorship for junior funds professionals, how to thrive in a male-dominated industry, and how employers should deal with the generational gap, with 5 generations working in the same company, office or department. At the end of the discussion, Jeanette also provides an overview of the current funds market in Germany. 

About the speaker

Jeanette Bruns is the Head of Debt Fund Management at Deka Immobilien Investment GmbH (Deka). She joined Deka Immobilien in 2006 in the Alternative Investments department and was responsible for the management of a Luxembourg real estate private equity fund of fund with a global portfolio, before accepting her current role in 2012. She is currently responsible for Deka’s debt fund platform with EUR1 billion in assets under management and a team of 5 professionals.

Jeanette started her career in 2000 at Arthur Andersen Real Estate and moved to Ernst & Young in 2002 to join their real estate practice, focussing on real estate project management, real estate development consulting and real estate transaction advisory.

She holds a diploma in architecture (Diplom-Ingenieur Architektur) and a degree from European Business School (Immobilienökonom (ebs)).
