Tomáš helps with financial regulation. He advises both domestic and international financial institutions, mostly in the areas of banking, investment and payment services, collective investments, or regulatory capital. Tomáš also represents clients in courts and administrative proceedings.
Tomáš has worked on a number of matters concerning MiFID, CRD and CRR, BRRD, PSD, UCITS, AIFMD, MAR, TD, or AMLD. His work includes general compliance advice on complex or controversial regulatory issues, representation in Czech courts or in proceedings held before the Czech National Bank and the Czech Financial Arbitrator, preparation of standard documentation, assistance with licensing procedures, or structuring of internal governance frameworks. For instance, Tomáš has advised a number of Czech banks on the transition to the MiFID2 regime, or arranged for the transformation of a mutual investment fund into a SICAV. In an unfair competition claim, he guided a client through successful defence against unlawful practices of its competitor. He has also helped to form the Czech market standard for MREL MTN issuances. As part of the fintech and crypto community, Tomáš aims to connect new technologies to meaningful legal frameworks.
