Allen & Overy advises C2Zero ahead of UK launch

Allen & Overy (A&O) has advised C2Zero, an Australian start-up, on its launch into the UK market.

C2Zero has today launched its carbon emissions allowance cancellation service – C4S – in the UK with the support of the Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli.

C4S is designed to offer individuals and businesses certainty when compensating for their environmental impact by providing the ability to direct the purchase and retirement of carbon emissions allowances from, for example, the UK emissions trading scheme.

A&O advised C2Zero with regulatory advice in preparation for its UK launch.

Roger Cohen, Founder and CEO of C2Zero said: “When entering new markets, it is crucial to manage regulatory risks. The thorough service provided by Allen & Overy, through the guidance of Kate and her team, has given us complete confidence that this has been effectively achieved. We look forward to the opportunities and the potential that the UK has to offer in this exciting new chapter for C2Zero.”

Kate Sumpter, partner at Allen & Overy, said: “We are delighted to work with a client that is leading the way in sustainability and innovation. We are eager to support them in their mission to deliver positive impact, eliminate carbon emissions and create value for their stakeholders and society.”
