Michael Reede is a corporate partner who focuses on significant M&A, joint venture and major commercial transactions acting for corporations and financial sponsors in industries characterised by significant levels of structural change (including communications, technology and data).  He has advised on communications and information infrastructure projects across APAC and co-leads the A&O TMT group in the region.

Michael has been identified as a leading lawyer in Asia’s Leading Lawyers, Chambers Global, the Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Australia’s Best Lawyers.

  • Telenor on various transactions relating to the deployment of its mobile network in Myanmar
  • Crown Castle Australia/Axiom on several strategic Australian transactions including the 15 year AUD1.5bn renewal of its long term tower lease arrangements with Optus
  • Darussalam Assets on the strategic consolidation of Brunei’s mobile networks
  • Indosat on a proposed active network sharing arrangement with XL Axiata in Indonesia
  • Emirates Airlines on its strategic 10 year alliance with Qantas in the international long-haul air carriage sector
  • Qantas/Jetstar on a joint venture with Japan Airlines and Mitsubishi Corporation to establish Jetstar Japan, a new low-cost carrier flying domestic and international routes from Japan
  • Malaysian Airlines and Air Asia on a range of strategic corporate transactions
  • Sage plc on its USD1bn plus bid for MYOB in Australia
  • General Atlantic on its investment in the Zimmerman global fashion business
  • The management team on the establishment of Metrics Credit Partners on the establishment of a USD1.5bn debt fund with initial loan assets to be contributed by National Australia Bank
  • Avnet Inc. on its a scheme of arrangement to acquire itX Limited, an ASX listed company
