Promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion

A&Out is Allen & Overy’s global network for our LGBTQ+ community, with over 100 members and 700 allies across the world.

Our LGBTQ+ allies programme was launched in 2016 and allows people across A&O to promote and support the equality of their LGBTQ+ colleagues. 

A&O has been recognised by Stonewall – a leading organisation that campaigns for LGBTQ+ rights – as one of only 17 Top Global Employers creating inclusive workplaces. The Stonewall’s Top Global Employers Index is the definitive list of the best multinational employers for LGBTQ+ staff and we have now been listed for the third year running as well as also being awarded the Global Ally Programme Award for its LGBT network A&Out in 2020.

We are also ranked in the top 100 of Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index 2020, a comprehensive audit of workplace culture for LGBTQ+ staff in the UK.

Corporate partner Jim Ford (London) and ICM partner David Lucking (New York) are the Global Co-Chairs of A&Out.

We have launched A&Out to our alumni around the world and, as well as supporting our own people, A&Out members network with clients, peers and others outside A&O. Many also come together to work on pro bono projects to end LGBTQ+ discrimination around the world.

I want to be clear that, regardless of where you are based at A&O, we want you to be yourself. Our LGBTQ+ colleagues should feel welcome, know that we value them, and be confident that they will not be excluded or held back in any way. This is not their responsibility, but all of ours
