Borja has participated in most sales and acquisitions of non-strategic assets carried out by Spanish financial institutions, such as non-performing loans, re-performing loans, real estate assets and property management platforms.
He also has extensive experience advising lenders and borrowers on all type of domestic and international financing transactions, including, in particular, leveraged finance, real estate finance and debt restructuring. Since 2020, Borja has been recommended for his excellent work in Best Lawyers. Borja is also a member of the Mental Health Allies Group of A&O Shearman Spain.

BBVA on the sale to CPPIB of a portfolio of non-performing loans with an aggregate outstanding principal balance of EUR 1,490m (Project Ánfora).

A subsidiary of multinational financial institution on the sale to CPPIB of a portfolio of non-performing loans with an aggregate outstanding principal balance of EUR 1,672m (Project Atlas).

Sabadell on the sale to Deutsche Bank and Carval of a portfolio of non-performing loans with an aggregate outstanding principal balance of EUR 3,200m (Project Makalu).

BBVA on the sale to KKR of a portfolio of non-performing loans with an aggregate outstanding principal balance of EUR 240m (Project Artemisa).

Pro bono

Collaboration with Fundación Probono España and IE Law School to assist Fundación ProLibertas in creating a guide on how criminal records affect the granting of resident status to women in Spain.
