Tibor is a senior expert in competition law with extensive experience both as a regulator and as a private practitioner, who joined Allen & Overy in 2011. He is heading the EU, competition and regulatory practice of the Budapest office. Tibor joined after having served four years as a member of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Office, where he was on the panel in all high profile antitrust and merger decisions of the Hungarian authority, and was also dealing with cases resulting from the enforcement of the EU directive on Unfair Commercial Practices.

Tibor has been a regular speaker at OECD's Regional Centre for Competition providing trainings for competition authorities in the CEE region, as well as judges in EU Member States dealing with antitrust issues, and regularly delivers lectures on competition and telecommunications law and policy at various Hungarian law and business schools.

Tibor previously led the competition team of another multinational law firm in Budapest, and represented multinational companies in proceedings related to antitrust matters and unfair commercial practices, both before the authority and berfore cours. He also participated in significant regulatroy projects, in particular in telecommunications, media, energy. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2004, Tibor worked for the European Commission's Directorate for Information Society.

New Hungarian legislation on national security vetting of foreign investors to apply from 1 January 2019

On 2 October 2018, the Hungarian Parliament adopted a new law, which will require ministerial approval for foreign direct investment into specific sectors. The law, currently awaiting sign-off from the President and then publication, applies to transactions set to close after 1 January 2019.
