Simon has responsibility globally for leading the firm’s Risk Management and Compliance function which includes the Business Acceptance Unit, In-House Legal Department and the teams with responsibility for Data Privacy, Financial Crime & Sanctions, Regulation & Conduct and Risk Operations.
He set up the firm’s Business Acceptance Unit in 2003 with responsibility for all aspects of risk and compliance relating to client engagement and the acceptance of new business including anti-money laundering, conflicts, client engagement letters and client confidentiality.
His fee-earning experience is in corporate law, in particular mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance, and he was a lawyer in the Corporate department of Allen & Overy LLP for eight years prior to commencing his in-house role.
