John Samaha is a litigation and regulatory defence lawyer. His clients are global and Australian corporations and financial institutions and their officers. He represents them in Court proceedings and in ASIC, APRA, ACCC and other regulatory cases and investigations.

Client feedback to leading independent market surveys Chambers and Legal 500:  John is 'very responsive', 'clear and incisive', 'an extremely experienced and strategic practitioner'.  He 'is particularly strong in giving targeted advice which gives proper weight to commercial considerations'.  He is also described as 'a consummate professional, highly knowledgeable and commercially minded". Both publications rank John among the leading dispute resolution lawyers in Australia.

John established Allen & Overy's litigation practice in Australia and led it from 2011 to 2019.  During that period he served on the firm's Global Partner Selection Committee and the Global Litigation Group Steering Committee.

John is a ministerial appointee to the Board of Governors of the Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine and Cell Biology (affiliated with Sydney University and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital).
