Wihan is an associate in Allen & Overy's global disputes practice, based in Johannesburg. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2018 and joined Allen & Overy in 2020.

Wihan predominantly serves clients in the energy, mining, infrastructure, energy and investment fields and has experience in large scale multi-jurisdictional contentious commercial and construction matters.

Wihan works both domestically, in South Africa, and globally as part of Allen & Overy’s global dispute resolution offering, with a focus on international arbitrations and large scale construction mandates.

Wihan has experience in matters in South Africa, across the African continent (particularly Nigeria and Ghana) and beyond, including in the Middle East and Europe.

Since joining Allen & Overy, Wihan has been involved in various global mandates and has spent time in Allen & Overy’s Dubai office. Wihan has been involved in several cross-border matters, including cross-border enforcement of international arbitration awards and a large scale ICSID arbitration.

Domestically and within Africa, Wihan works closely with local counsel in several jurisdictions – both in domestic courts across the continent as well as ad-hoc and institutional arbitrations.

Wihan is involved in several arbitration and construction initiatives and currently serves as the regional editor of the Africa Construction Law Blog for the Southern Africa region. Wihan also holds an advanced post graduate certificate in construction contracts from the University of Pretoria.
