Samuel is a senior associate in the Amsterdam corporate team, which is recognised as the leading practice in this area in the Netherlands. He is particularly experienced in public and private M&A, capital markets transactions and corporate governance.

Samuel advised various clients in the financial sector, including Euronext on its rights issue in connection with the takeover of Borsa Italiana, Aegon on the sale of its Central and Eastern European business, Anbang on the sale of VIVAT to Athora, Saxo Bank on the public offer for BinckBank and NIBC on its IPO. In addition, he assisted on transactions related to ESG, such as NX Filtration and Alfen on their IPOs and Fastned on a capital raise. Other notable deals include advising Gemalto on the public takeover by Thales, SHV on its public offer for Nutreco, the owners of RFS Holland Holding on their sale of RFS Holland Holding to Apax, RFS Holland Holding on the sale of, Advent on its public offer for UNIT4, Monumental Productions on the sale of Monumental Productions to SFX Entertainment and VolkerWessels and Refresco on their IPOs.

In addition to his work at Allen & Overy, Samuel is an external researcher at Erasmus School of Law and publishes articles and books on various subjects related to his work. He is a member of the team of permanent contributors of the Dutch corporate law journal (Tijdschrift Ondernemingsrecht), with a focus on corporate governance and ESG.

In 2018, Samuel won the award for Best Young Talent at the SDU Dutch law firm awards. In 2020, he completed a PhD by publishing his book on The Public Company, Corporate Governance and Strategy. During 2020 and 2021, Samuel went on a nine-month secondment to the Madrid office of Allen & Overy, where he worked on M&A and capital markets transactions.
