Patricia has a PhD in Chemistry, which she completed at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Her research focused on structuring novel nanomaterials for biomedical applications, specifically using a 3D printing approach to structure magnetically addressable soft materials of biological interest for realising drug delivery across the scale of single cells.
This involved extensive nanomaterial characterisation, surface biochemistry, extensive nanostructure fabrication and frequent surface characterisation through use of scanning electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, rheology, infra-red imaging, magnetometry.
Prior to joining Allen & Overy in 2022, Patricia worked for a global medical device company assisting in the review and approval key regulatory documents for clinical chemistry product launches, including sate of the art reports and scientific validity reports.
Since joining Allen & Overy, Patricia has worked alongside the legal team on a number of IP litigation matters. These include IP due diligence reviews. analysis of patents for freedom to operate, literature searches for expert witness depositions and assisting fellow STAs with expert searches and other technical research.
