Nick is co-head of our Middle East Asset Management and Financial Services Regulatory practice. He acts for numerous fund managers, sponsors and financial institutions on the establishment and management of and investment into investment funds. He also advises on a wide range of real estate matters, including large-scale developments, as well as corporate spin-offs and carve-out sales.

His clients include Mubadala and other sovereign wealth funds. He has particular expertise in real estate funds and REITs. Nick chaired a panel of industry experts established by the DFSA to review the Dubai International Financial Centre’s Collective Investment Funds regime, with the DFSA bringing in changes to the regime in light of the panel’s recommendation.

Nick Smith is rated in Band 1 as a leading individual for Investment Funds Middle East-wide, and as a notable practitioner for Investment Funds: Real Estate Global-wide. (Chambers Global)
