Kate Morris is an Executive Director in Allen & Overy’s strategic and regulatory consulting practice.
Prior to joining A&O, Kate was the Head of Asia-Pacific Compliance for Westpac Institutional Bank. Her previous roles include the Head of Global Strategy & Projects and Head of the Australian Compliance team for Westpac Institutional Bank.
In her compliance-focused roles with Westpac, Kate helped business leaders to navigate complex regulatory change. She has worked with C-suite and senior management to coordinate multi-million dollar global regulatory change investment programmes, and has advised on complex business initiatives across international jurisdictions including the US, the UK, Singapore, India, China and the Pacific.
Kate has practiced law in private practice and in house roles. During her time in legal practice with Westpac, she was lead counsel for Westpac's Equities and Financial Markets businesses, advising on equity, fixed interest, currency and commodities products. This included technical legal and governance work advising subsidiary boards on issues ranging from debt issuance activities to the establishment of managed investment schemes. Kate also spent time as part of Westpac’s Dispute Resolution Group, focusing on regulatory enforcement proceedings and class actions.
