Karim Mernissi

Karim is a corporate lawyer with a particular focus on M&A. He has extensive experience in advising corporate clients, investment funds and institutional investors on complex and high-value M&A transactions, both domestic and cross-border, as well as on partnerships (in particular, joint-venture constitutions) and corporate restructurings. 

He also assists his clients on corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters.

Karim has a strong track record covering various sectors, such as energy, financial services (banking and insurance), education and retail.

Karim joined the Casablanca office of the firm in January 2023, after having practiced for five years in Paris in Magic Circle firms, where he developed a leading experience in M&A transactions on the French and European markets.

Representative matters

Saham and Tana on their sale to Globeducate of a majority stake in their education business in Morocco. 

A pool of Moroccan institutional investors on their acquisition from the Wilmar group of its entire stake in Cosumar S.A., a company listed in the Casablanca Stock Exchange, representing 30.05% of the share capital, in consideration of a price of circa. USD 600 million. 

Veolia in the context of the litigation procedure initiated by the Moroccan Competition Counsil as regards Veolia’s shareholding in Lydec. 

Fonds Mohammed VI pour l'Investissement in relation to the selection process (and related specifications) for the selection of management companies called upon to set up and manage sectoral and thematic funds.
