Jonathan Heeringa



Jonathan is a partner in our capital markets team based in Amsterdam. He is experienced in both debt capital markets and asset-backed financing transactions. Jonathan has published articles on the European securitisations and co-authored part of The Banking Regulation Guide 2017 (Thomson Reuters, Practical Law).

Jonathan advises across the spectrum of financial instruments, including convertible bond issues, debt programmes and drawdowns, liability management transactions (exchange offers and tender offers), securitisations, covered bond issues, corporate hybrid issues and regulatory capital issues by banks and insurance companies. Clients particularly praise his “good communication skills and experience in different topics”, asserting that “his execution is brilliant”. He is recommended in Legal 500. Jonathan is fluent in English and Dutch.

Other noteworthy experience includes advising:

  • KPN on a tender offer for EUR1bn outstanding notes and a new notes issue of EUR1.25 bn.
  • The joint lead managers on the USD575m Tier 2 notes issuance by VIVAT.
  • Credit Europe Bank on its EUR150m Tier 2 notes issuance.
  • ABN AMRO on its divestment of a portfolio of non-performing loans to Attestor.
  • FrieslandCampina on the establishment of its EUR1bn Euro Commercial Paper Programme.
  • The joint lead managers on up to appr. 20 separate issues annually by Nederlandse Waterschapsbank under its EMTN Programme.
  • ING and the other joint lead managers on two separate issues by ING Groep of Tier 2 Notes, listed on Euronext Amsterdam.
  • Liberty Global and group companies on two issues of high yield notes.
  • Morgan Stanley and the other joint lead managers on the EUR1bn Additional Tier 1 Note issue by ABN AMRO.
  • Royal Ahold Delhaize on the establishment of its EUR1bn Euro Commercial Paper Programme.
