Joachim is a senior advisor to the financial regulatory team. He has gained a broad and deep experience in the public sector. Until recently he used to be member of the board of Deutsche Bundesbank with the responsibility for banking supervision, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanisms of the European Central Bank, a member of the Basel Committee for Banking Supervisions and a member of the German Committee for Financial Stability. Before, he gained wide experience in politics on the EU, the federal and the regional level. He served inter alia as a Member of the European Parliament and a Secretary of State in the federal government.

His focus is strategic consultancy to financial institutions from Germany and Europe in regulatory issues, supervisory matters, financial markets and digitisation topics.
