James Bryson is a senior associate based in New York and is a derivatives and structured finance specialist. James advises on a wide range of derivatives assets classes (both cleared and uncleared), repos, securities lending, and structured notes issuances.

In addition to James’ transactional practice, a substantial part of his practice focuses on the regulatory aspects of the derivatives market, and he has extensive experience advising market infrastructure participants and banks on EMIR, Dodd-Frank, elements of CRR and other applicable regulations. James is currently actively involved in IBOR transition in the derivatives markets.

James has spoken at industry events on a variety of derivatives regulatory issues.

James also regularly advises on contentious derivatives issues, close-outs and valuations disputes, both in Europe and the US.

James is based in Allen & Overy’s New York office, and previously spent 7 years in A&O’s London office. James has also been on secondment to a major US investment bank.

James graduated with first class honors in Economics from the University of Bristol. He is a solicitor of England and Wales.
