Gerard is a finance lawyer specialising in financial services regulations, capital management transactions, including portfolio transfers and disintermediation, as well as capital markets and direct lending structures.

Furthermore he advises on international regulatory reforms and recovery and resolution of financial institutions. His client base includes corporates, the Dutch State and major financial institutions. Gerard studied at the University of Leiden and obtained an LL.M degree at the University of London. He has lectured at the Grotius Academy, the University of Utrecht and the University of Leiden. Gerard heads the Financial Markets Regulation practice of Allen & Overy in the Netherlands.
