Frances' practice focuses upon European competition law. She has extensive experience in advising clients from a wide range of industries on merger control procedures, cartel investigations, abuse of dominance investigations, intellectual property issues and licensing and distribution agreements.
Prior to joining Allen & Overy, Frances spent sixteen years at another leading law firm practicing competition law, including eleven years as a Counsel, splitting her time between Brussels and Amsterdam. Before that, Frances worked for the Dutch Competition Authority as well as for the European Commission, where she gained first-hand knowledge of their internal procedures.
Frances has degrees in economics and law from the University of Amsterdam. As a result, she has an in-depth understanding of the economic concepts and analytical techniques at the heart of competition law.
Frances is the co-author of ‘The Economic Assessment of Mergers under European Competition Law’ and a regular contributor of articles that provide insights into the latest antitrust developments.
