Emma is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales with extensive post-qualification experience working at Allen & Overy LLP in the derivatives and structured finance team.

She has experience of both derivatives and structured finance transactions advising some of Allen & Overy’s key sellside and buyside clients as well as trade associations.

A key focus is advising on the regulatory developments affecting these markets such as EMIR, MiFIR, SFTR, bank recovery and resolution, sustainability and the impact of Brexit. Emma has experience in the legal tech space and has led on a proprietary RegTech tool to assist counterparties to determine whether they are in scope for initial margin compliance and regularly speaks at internal and external training sessions and conferences.

Emma co-authored the chapter on “Initial margin requirements for non-centrally cleared derivatives” in Practical Derivatives: A Transactional Approach, Fourth Edition (published by Globe Law and Business Ltd in 2023). In addition, she co-authored the chapter “OTC derivatives clearing documentation” in Clearing OTC Derivatives in Europe (published by Oxford University Press in 2023).
