Emilio De Giorgi leads our Italian Antitrust team and has over 20 years’ experience of assisting Italian and multinational companies in behavioural investigations before the Italian Antitrust Authority and the European Commission (including cartels, abuse of dominance position, unfair commercial practices and misleading advertising), obtaining merger clearances at national and European levels and coordinating multi-jurisdictional filings. Emilio also has extensive experience in antitrust regulatory matters and litigation before the Italian courts, particularly in the telecommunications and transport sectors.

The Italian Antitrust Authority has published the guidelines on compliance programmes

​On October 4 the IAA has adopted the guidelines on how to structure an antitrust compliance programme and its treatment in the context of an antitrust investigation. They make clear that only compliance programme satisfying international best practices will be rewarded. Also considering the increasing level of fines imposed by the IAA and the proliferation of antitrust damages actions which will likely soon be strengthened by a reformed class action currently in course of approval by the Italian parliament, now is the time to implement an effective antitrust compliance programme.
