Ellen heads the Allen & Overy Amsterdam Investment Management team. Her main practice areas are private equity funds and other investment institutions and advising on investment and custody agreements. Ellen has a thorough background in regulatory, securities and corporate law. She specialises in the legal structuring of these funds, whether regulated or non-regulated funds, and the implementation of these structures. Ellen advises financial institutions, funds and asset management companies on the regulatory, securities and corporate law aspects of their activities.
Furthermore, she advises investors around the world on participating in private equity, infrastructure and other alternative asset class funds. Ellen and her team advised on the setting up and implementation of a market-to-market first flexible cross-border asset-pooling scheme and a landmark joint-venture between one of the largest Dutch pension funds and a global construction services enterprise. She has experience in assisting the initiators of Dutch and foreign UCITS or non-UCITS funds on obtaining the required licences from the Dutch authorities or on the notification procedure to the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. Ellen has published various articles on regulatory issues in the Dutch investment management market. She is a member of the Securities Law Association.
