Brendan is an associate in Allen & Overy’s International Environmental Law Group, International Trade and Regulatory Law Group, and Political Law Group.
His practice focuses on regulatory compliance and transactional risk management. He counsels clients on environmental law and U.S. sanctions programs (including those administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Commerce). He also advises on potential anti-bribery/corruption issues, export controls, and matters involving the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
As a member of the Political Law Group, Brendan counsels clients on U.S. and international placement agent regulations, lobbying regulations, gifts and entertainment, pay-to-play issues, revolving door restrictions, and campaign finance laws.
Brendan’s pro bono work involves representation of clients in immigration proceedings. He is an active member of the U.S. Forcibly Displaced Persons Group, which provides pro bono representation to asylum seekers. He also helped draft a legal memorandum for the National Women’s Law Center advocating Congress’ ability to abrogate state sovereign immunity in the context of sex discrimination in state-run public accommodations.
