Senior Partner

Brechje is the Senior Partner of the Amsterdam office. Her practice covers a wide range of commercial and financial dispute resolution. She specialises in banking, finance and securities litigation, class actions, collective settlements, restructuring and insolvency matters and directors' liability.

Brechje represents various financial institutions in consumer class actions involving financial products and negotiated the first collective settlement on unit linked life insurance policies. She regularly advises and publishes on collective settlements under the 2005 Act on the Collective Settlement of Mass Damages. Her clients include corporates and financial institutions and she publishes and lectures frequently. Brechje is a member of the Allen & Overy Litigation Steering Group, the Allen & Overy Amsterdam Financial Markets Regulation Team and a member of the Allen & Overy Global Class Action Team.

Brechje joined Loeff Claeys Verbeke, the firm that merged into Allen & Overy in 2000, in 1996. Prior to specialising in dispute resolution, she worked in the Amsterdam mergers & acquisitions practice.

The 2017 edition of Chambers Global describes Brechje’s ability “to reduce a highly complex legal matter to its basic elements" and to "think ahead to solutions”. Legal 500 described Brechje as "profoundly knowledgeable" and quotes that she "excels in the courtroom".
