Bartosz Merczyński, Ph.D., heads the Warsaw Banking Litigation and Insolvency practice. He is an attorney-at-law with over 14 years of professional experience and has been with the firm since 2005. Bartosz specialises in representing global financial institutions in a range of complex financial and regulatory disputes.
He frequently acts for banks in mis-selling and professional negligence litigation. He regularly represents clients in high value credit insurance disputes, and also has particularly broad experience acting for financial creditors in insolvency proceedings and recovery litigation, including disputed security and enforcement. He has represented clients in landmark cases before the courts of all instances, as well as the Polish Supreme Court.
Bartosz has a strong banking and finance background as he gained a wealth of unique industry expertise working in the firm’s banking department. This allows him to operate as a litigator with a clear understanding of the underlying financial transactions and products.
Bartosz graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw in 2002 and conducted his doctoral studies at the Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he obtained a Ph.D. in international civil and insolvency law in 2010. Bartosz has authored several publications and conducts seminars for financial institutions.
