Since the beginning of the Brexit transition period, developments in both the UK and EU have impacted the MiFID rules in various ways.
This is set to continue, as the EU technical trilogues work towards finalising the updated EU MiFID and MiFIR texts, and the UK makes further progress on its “smarter regulatory framework”. The shifting pieces are starting to give rise to divergence, but some changes – while appearing different on each side of the channel – in fact have a comparable effect.
