Capital Markets Union and securitisation regulatory reform: Some good news, but is it enough?

Following on from the political agreement reached earlier this year on the package of EU regulatory reforms for securitisation, the usual legal and linguistic review process is now substantially complete and a revised version of the text has been published (linked here).

By way of background, the package of reforms is intended to revive the securitisation market in Europe and it includes provisions – set out in a new securitisation regulation – targeted at harmonising aspects of the current regulatory regime and establishing a new common framework for simple, transparent and standardised (STS) securitisations.​​
