Allen & Overy has, for the second year in a row, been awarded an Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) Award for Excellence in Member Company Engagements at the ABCN Leadership Dinner, held in Melbourne on 30 July.
In addition, Karolina Popic, Sydney ICM Partner, was also awarded the “Super Mentor Award 2018,” in recognition of completing 10 or more multi-session ABCN programs as a volunteer mentor.
ABCN is a not-for-profit organisation that connects businesses with students from disadvantaged backgrounds for mentoring and partnership programs. It works with an extensive range of public schools across Australia, helping students to make sound choices in their personal lives, education and careers. Since its inception, ABCN has supported over 40,000 students to be mentored by business volunteers.
In 2018, 43 volunteer mentors from Allen & Overy Sydney donated over 318 volunteer hours to the ABCN mentoring programs over the past year, mentoring 63 students from three public schools around New South Wales.
“Allen & Overy continues to proudly support ABCN in their incredible efforts to mentor and nurture Australia’s future business leaders,” said Karolina Popic.
“I want to specially thank and acknowledge the volunteer mentors from Allen & Overy Sydney, who continue to dedicate their time and expertise to mentoring students through ABCN. At Allen & Overy, our staff are passionate about giving back to the Australian community, and we will continue to act as role models and invest in the development of bright young Australians through our partnership with ABCN.” said Sydney Managing Partner Jason Denisenko.
The evening was hosted by PwC at its Melbourne offices in Southbank.
