Yale Law Women (YLW) has recognized Allen & Overy in its 15th annual Top Firms Report for A&O’s excellence in both hiring practices and LGBTQ+ representation. The Report, which is a benchmark on gender equity and family friendliness among Big Law firms, aims to raise awareness of inequities within the legal profession, highlight progress being made in the industry, and identify areas for improvement.

Tim House, U.S. senior partner at Allen & Overy, commented: “At Allen & Overy, we not only work on some of the most challenging and innovative cross-border business assignments, we also work to create an equitable culture that promotes inclusivity, diversity, collaboration and overall wellness to ensure we have the best people today and tomorrow. We appreciate this recognition from Yale Law Women and for the time they have taken to ensure we continue to progress as an industry.”

Allen & Overy’s commitment to diversity includes requiring 30% of a practice group's nominations for partnership to be women. For 2020 nominations, 45% of global partner promotions were women. In addition, Allen & Overy uses structured panel interviews during graduate recruitment; ensures its people can work flexibly; provides employees time to participate in myriad pro bono, volunteer, training, and mentoring opportunities; and offers equitable parental leave (in the U.S., all partners, associates, and staff are eligible for up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave regardless of how they became a parent, with birth parents receiving an additional eight weeks of paid leave).

Yale Law Women is a nonpartisan organization committed to advancing the status of women and traditionally underrepresented gender identities at Yale Law School and in the legal profession at large.
