Allen & Overy senior associate Louise Hennessey has been included in the HERoes 100 Women Future Leaders List, recognised for her impact on gender inclusion and equality inside and outside the workplace.

The HERoes lists reward those who work to increase inclusion in business for women, with submissions scored and reviewed by a judging panel. Future Leaders such as Louise are high performing individuals who have demonstrated impact in their work towards gender inclusion.

Louise is recognised for her work as Chair of A&O’s women’s network WiN, a role she has held since November 2018. She was tasked with revitalising the network and reformulating the shape and strategy of the committee. Since then, WiN has gone from strength to strength, promoting gender equality at the firm through various initiatives, including a collaboration with the Ministry of Justice. Louise also helped to develop programs which support and develop the careers of A&O’s junior women lawyers and contributed to a paper presented to the firm’s Board which helped to shape its gender strategy and targets. Externally, Louise mentors diverse female students and is a champion for Women for Women International.

Commenting on her award win, Louise said: “It’s a huge honour to be included in the HERoes 100 Women Future Leaders List. I’m grateful to work for a firm that is so supportive of open discussion and challenge on issues relating to diversity and inclusion. There is a long way to go both inside and outside of the workplace and I look forward to contributing further to ensuring the equality of treatment of all genders in the future.”

A&O’s head of Diversity and Inclusion, Jo Dooley, added: “This is fantastic recognition of Louise’s dedication to furthering gender equality at A&O. Under her guidance WiN has flourished and achieved so much in a short space of time. Her work has had a direct impact on the firm’s strategy and our progress in this area and so I’m thrilled that she has been included on this HERoes list.”
