Lateral counsel hire Zachary O’Dell bolsters international focus of Allen & Overy’s arbitration practice in Germany

Allen & Overy strengthens its global arbitration group with the addition of Zachary O’Dell who will join the firm as counsel with effect from 1 February 2023. He brings wide ranging experience in international arbitral practice and procedure, with significant expertise as counsel in cross-border post-M&A, construction, and energy disputes.

Working in tandem with Anna from the firm’s Frankfurt office, Zachary will advise on international commercial arbitration matters, including with a focus on energy disputes.

Joining from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, Zachary began his legal career in the New York office before relocating to Frankfurt in early 2016. He is a New York qualified attorney and teaches “U.S. Written & Oral Advocacy” at the University of Marburg. He has also been recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a Future Leader in 2023 and his writings have appeared in leading legal publications and treatises. Zachary earned a J.D. and LL.M from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago.
