Allen & Overy has announced the promotion of Emilio De Giorgi and Amilcare Sada to partner, effective from 1 May 2022. Their appointments are part of A&O’s global partner promotions with 39 new partners representing 17 offices across the firm’s global network.

A&O Italy senior partner Stefano Sennhauser commented: “We are proud of the promotion to partner of Emilio and Amilcare, two lawyers greatly appreciated by clients and colleagues that contribute strongly to the development of the Italian practice. Their appointment is a further step in the growth and renewal path of the Italian offices and is testament of the importance of our country to the firm’s vision and global strategy.”

In Allen & Overy since 2016, Emilio De Giorgi leads our Italian Antitrust team and has over 20 years’ experience in all aspects of competition law. He advises Italian and multinational companies in behavioural investigations before the Italian Antitrust Authority and the European Commission (including cartels, abuse of dominance position, unfair commercial practices and misleading advertising), obtaining merger clearances at national and European levels and coordinating multi-jurisdictional filings. Emilio is a market leader in antitrust private enforcement with extensive experience in antitrust litigations also in the context of multi-jurisdiction litigations.

Emilio De Giorgi said: “This promotion is an acknowledgment of the work done over these years, as our Antitrust team has advised on numerous outstanding cases in the market. Our Antitrust practice can now count on a strong client base and a growing visibility that will contribute to both the success of the firm and our involvement as a team in the most complex cases in Italy”.

Amilcare Sada joined A&O’s Litigation practice in 2006 as a trainee, was appointed counsel in 2018 and has been co-heading the practice since 2021. Amilcare has worked in Italy and abroad and has over 15 years’ experience in domestic and international litigation. He assists large corporates and financial institutions on a wide range of finance, restructuring, insolvency, product liability and commercial disputes both domestic and cross-borders. Amilcare further advises on investigations and matters raised by domestic and international financial services authorities (CONSOB and Bank of Italy, etc.) and criminal investigations and trials related to business crime and anti-money laundering law.

Amilcare Sada commented: “Having spent all my career at A&O, I am really proud of this achievement as it is a demonstration of the firm’s commitment, both at a local and global level, to the internal growth of its professionals and is testament to the results achieved by the entire Litigation team, a group who always looks to the future and is ready to support our clients to navigate through the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead”.
