Allen & Overy litigation partner David Stone and Counsel and Head of Fuse Shruti Ajitsaria have been named in The Lawyer magazine’s "Hot 100" list for 2018.
The "Hot 100", a prestigious report compiled by The Lawyer magazine, gathers together the UK legal market’s most daring, innovative and creative lawyers. This year’s list has been split into six categories including: The Bar, In House, Leaders, Disrupters, Litigators, and Deal Makers. The list, for the first time, sees more women feature than men; with 51 women compared to 49 men.
Partner David Stone, who features in the Litigators section, leads the firm’s global brands group, is an intellectual property litigator. Under his leadership role, the firm has set up a trade mark and design filing and portfolio management service. In May 2017 David was appointed a Deputy High Court Judge and is one of only two solicitors to be appointed to the post.
Appearing in the Disrupters category, Counsel Shruti Ajitsaria, is recognised for heading up Allen & Overy's successful new tech innovation space, Fuse, that launched in September 2017. The initiative was one of the landmark legal market developments in terms of highlighting the extent to which traditional firms are remodelling their businesses. In terms of her legal expertise, Shruti spent over a decade in credit derivatives, being heavily involved in drafting much of the standard documentation in this area.
Commenting on the accolade, Shruti said: "I am so pleased to have been recognised in The Lawyer's Hot 100 as a disrupter for 2017. This highlights the full extent to which Fuse has been acknowledged in the industry. We have now opened the application process for our second cohort of firms to join Fuse and we look forward to selecting another group of companies to help us to build on its success."
"Having joined the firm a little over a year ago, it is truly wonderful to have the strides that the IP practice has taken acknowledged. We are all excited to see what the next twelve months have to offer and to continue to grow the practice globally."
