Allen & Overy announces the appointment of Miklós Kádár as new Head of its Hungarian practice from 1st May 2021. Miklós Kádár is taking over the management from Zoltán Lengyel.

Zoltán is retiring effective 30 April 2021. Zoltán has held this position since 2007 and has worked for Allen & Overy since 2000.

Miklós Kádár, counsel and dual-qualified as a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and a Hungarian attorney, joined Allen & Overy Budapest as a junior associate in 2006. He commenced working on English law finance transactions early on in the team led by partner James Graham. Miklós then spent nearly six years in Warsaw as a senior member of Allen & Overy CEE’s regional English law finance team acting on a broad range of banking and finance transactions including project finance, LBOs, real estate finance, restructurings and corporate lending transactions in the wider CEE and SEE regions, Western Europe, Turkey and the Baltics. This was followed by two years in London in the leveraged finance practice group working on transactions driven by top tier private equity sponsors including LBOs, margin lending, holdco lending and other products throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Miklós’s re-joining Allen & Overy Budapest brings his reputable English law finance skills to the regional CEE/SEE markets and the domestic market. This will allow us to offer full English law finance services out of Budapest, and further integrating A&O Hungary into the regional English law finance team as well as the wider London and Western European teams.

Miklós Kádár commented: “We continue to be committed to our global, regional and Hungarian clients in CEE and SEE and focus on advising them on the most complex cross-border and domestic transactions and supporting them in their investments. We combine cutting-edge London legal expertise with our outstanding domestic knowledge and in-depth market insight - this puts us in a unique position and strengthens our presence further as the only global elite firm in Hungary.”

Arkadiusz Pędzich, Head of Allen & Overy’s CEE practice commented: “We are committed to the continuing growth of our CEE practice. The appointment of Miklós Kádár as the head of Allen & Overy in Budapest is testament to the importance of our Hungarian market to our global practice. I would like to congratulate Miklós on his appointment. I am confident that, with the support of the CEE partnership our Hungarian practice will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
