Allen and Overy partners Simon Toms, Neville Cordell and Sarah Henchoz have teamed up with mentors from companies including Google, Facebook and Barclays to share their expertise on how tech companies can manage growth as they scale-up or prepare for sale.

The advice was provided at the London Silicon Valley Comes to the UK (SVC2UK) event, which brings leading Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors to the UK to share their views on the future, and support and inspire the next generation of UK business leaders.

According to a government commissioned report released as part of SVC2UK this year, the potential economic return of supporting scalable businesses for the UK is estimated at £225bn by 2034.

“The real challenge for emerging companies comes less at the start-up stage and more when they begin to scale-up,” said Allen & Overy corporate partner, Simon Toms.

“It's critically important for growth companies to get the right advice early on to help them put in place good structures and processes to minimise risk around employment issues, compliance and protection of IP.”

As part of the SVC2UK event, A&O prepared a Top Tips For Growth Companies resource.
