A&O appoints co-heads of its global Litigation practice

Allen & Overy has announced that Karen Seward and David Esseks have been appointed as co-heads of its global Litigation practice for a four-year term, effective 1 May 2022.

The appointment follows internal consultations by Independent Partner Directors and a confirmatory vote by the practice group.

Karen Seward who has been in the role since 2018 and has steered the practice group through over 25 lateral hires and nearly 20 partner promotions across the global network, has been reappointed for a second term, alongside new appointment, David Esseks.

David joined A&O in 2007 as a partner in the firm’s New York office and is currently the US head of litigation. During his time at A&O he has built a leading litigation and investigations practice and has played a key role in the recent expansion of the litigation practice in the US.

A&O global managing partner Gareth Price comments: “Dual leadership reflects the size and global nature of our litigation practice as it goes through a period of immense growth, particularly in the US. I’m confident that under the leadership of Karen and David, the practice will continue in its success at supporting clients with their most complex cross-border disputes.”
