A&O advises the underwriters on EUR 1.35 billion share capital increase of Public Power Corporation S.A.

Allen & Overy has advised Citi and Goldman Sachs as international joint global co-ordinators and Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Euroxx Securities, National Bank of Greece and Piraeus Bank as international co-bookrunners on the EUR 1.35 billion non pre-emptive share capital increase of Public Power Corporation, S.A. (PPC), the Greek national electricity company.

The transaction is one of the largest equity capital raisings in Greece in recent years.

PPC is the largest generator and supplier of electricity in Greece. Its generation portfolio consists of conventional energy plants, hydroelectric power plants and renewable energy sources, which collectively account for approximately half of the electricity produced in Greece. The transaction is key to accelerating PPC’s de-carbonisation plan and to expanding its portfolio of renewable energy assets. PPC is publicly listed on the Athens Exchange with a market capitalization of approximately EUR2.1 billion.

The A&O deal team was led by US Corporate Finance partner Diana Billik, Corporate partner James Roe and partner Yannis Manuelides. The team was supported by Karin Braverman (Senior Associate), Philip Whitehead (Associate), Emenike Omeye (US law clerk), Isidora Parga (US law clerk) and Will Michell (trainee).
