Allen & Overy has been announced as one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women for the first time.

The list is produced in partnership with Business in the Community and recognises UK employers that are making gender equality a key part of their business strategy, with consistent commitment to creating inclusive workplace cultures and progressing women in the workplace across their entire organisation.

Wim Dejonghe, senior partner at A&O, comments: "Making progress on diversity, particularly gender diversity, has been a focus of ours for some time so we are very proud that our work has been recognised in this prestigious list. While we have seen positive change within A&O we are not at the end of our journey on diversity, and it will take time to achieve our goals, but this recognition is a strong sign that we are on the right track."

Diversity has been a strategic priority for A&O globally since 2016 and in early 2018 the firm refreshed its gender diversity strategy to accelerate progress on the issue. This strategy introduced five new areas of focus to build on existing work covering accountability, distribution of opportunities, ensuring a supportive working environment, alternative career paths and supporting parents in their careers.

Chloe Chambraud, director of gender equality at Business in the Community, said:"Congratulations to all of the organisations who have been named as Times Top 50 Employer for Women this year. Your relentless work to make your workplace more diverse and more inclusive deserves to be recognised and celebrated."
