Allen & Overy (“A&O”) acted as legal counsel on numerous transactions that were recognized at the Proximo Americas Deals of the Year Awards Ceremony, highlighting A&O’s outstanding work in the Latin America in energy, infrastructure and renewables in 2020. 

The Deal of the Year awards include:

  • Latin America Emerging Energy Deal of the Year – Condor/Enel X, in which A&O advised BNP Paribas, Société Générale and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation on the financing to a joint venture of AMP Capital and Enel X, in support of the acquisition and leasing of 433 electric busses for the Transantiago public transit system in Santiago, Chile; 
  • Latin America Solar Deal of the Year – New Juazerio Solar Project, in which A&O advised IDB Invest and DNB on the financing of a 187 MWp bifacial photovoltaic solar power plant in Brazil developed by Atlas Renewable Energy; and
  • Latin America Mining Deal of the Year – Mantoverde, in which A&O advised Mitsubishi Materials Corporation on its acquisition of a minority stake in the Mantoverde copper mine in Chile; and
  • Latin America Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year – PPP Educativa 2, in which A&O advised IDB Invest on the bankability aspects of its financing to Infraestructura Educativa II SA of 23 schools, 9 technology centers and 10 sports centers, as part of the Government of Uruguay’s strategic plan to develop the country's educational infrastructure.
