Allen & Overy’s partners have appointed Dr Wolf Bussian, LL.M. (43) as new Managing Partner for the firm’s German offices.
In this position, he will succeed Thomas Ubber (Senior Partner) and Dr Astrid Krüger (Managing Partner), combining both their former roles. Thomas Ubber and Astrid Krüger’s successful period of office would normally have ended on 30 April 2020, but in view of the intensive Covid-19 restrictions the two partners agreed to remain in their positions for a transition period
Wolf Bussian has been licensed to practice as a lawyer since 2005. He joined Allen & Overy as a partner in the Litigation & Arbitration practice group in 2013 and has headed this group for the past two years. Wolf Bussian specialises in complex, large-volume disputes and investigations in the financial sector.
“I would like to thank Thomas Ubber and Astrid Krüger in the name of all the partners for their commitment and the successful development of Allen & Overy’s German offices over the past years,” Wolf Bussian said on his appointment. He will use the next four years to build on the firm’s successful development: “These are challenging times for all of us – our staff, our clients and our society. We are supporting our clients across the world through the economic crisis that has been triggered by the coronavirus.”
In this context, the new Managing Partner is confident in Allen & Overy’s core strengths: “These difficult situations also harbour unique opportunities. Our partners and staff have demonstrated enormous flexibility, innovation, reliability and solidarity even in these difficult times. Together, we will out our advisory practice on an innovative and sustainable footing.”
