Allen & Overy today announced that Chambers 2021 Latin America recognized the firm’s U.S. Projects, Energy and Infrastructure (PENRI) partners Sami Mir and Dorina Yessios, ranking them as Band 3 in Project Finance, and ranked Bruno Soares as Band 4 in Project Finance and in Banking & Finance.

Chambers commented on Sami Mir: “He adds so much value to deals. He is a high-performing partner and somehow manages to find the time to get involved with everything when needed, it is really impressive.” His recent notable work includes advising China Harbour Engineering Co. in connection with its bid for the Primera Línea del Metro de Bogotá – Tramo I PPP project. Sami also advised IDB Invest on the financing to Itapoá Terminais Portuários S.A. for the expansion of the existing yard, wharf and handling capacity to support 1.2 million TEUs, located in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Dorina is described by a market source as “…really excellent. When clients encounter commercial obstacles, Dorina offers alternatives and gives very frank commercial advice.” Dorina offers unique, front-line experience for projects having advised CA-CIB, BBVA, Natixis, Proparco and Bancomext as lenders and EKF as guarantor on a portfolio of renewable energy projects developed and maintained by a joint venture between ENGIE México and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. Dorina also respresented institutional investors in a private placement of senior secured notes issued by subsidiaries of Atlas Renewable Energy Chile, the owner of an operating solar project in Chile, and Parque Solar Fotovoltaico Sol del Desierto SpA, the owner of a greenfield solar project in Chile.

Bruno is described as very trustworthy “not only because of his knowledge but also because of the way he looks at deals and focuses on solutions.” His recent notable work includes advising the Bank of China as joint lead bookrunner on the USD850mm bridge loan facility being extended to a subsidiary of China Three Gorges for the acquisition of the Chaglla Hydroelectric Project in Perú.

Bruno also ranked as Band 4 in Banking & Finance and has earned particular market recognition for his activity in Brazil. He is known for having a solid practice advising international financial institutions and corporate borrowers on corporate and acquisition finance matters, including advising Deutsche Bank on a secured margin loan facility to Banco BTG Pactual S.A.

Chambers rankings are determined through interviews with thousands of lawyers and their clients across Latin America. The results, which are based on a range of professional qualities, are independently audited by Chambers Latin America.
