Allen & Overy was awarded the Transportation, Energy and Infrastructure Team of the Year and the Banking, Finance and Restructuring Team of the Year awards at the Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards which took place at The Westin Mina Seyahi on 15 May 2014.

Hosted by Legal Week and the Corporate Counsel Group Middle East Group, the awards were open to both local and international law firms along with in-house legal teams. Winners were judged by an independent panel which included leading counsel members from in-house teams.

The judging panel was particularly impressed by our role on the USD1.43 billion debt financing of the Az Zour North IWPP, the first independent water and power project in Kuwait.

Nick Stuart, corporate partner represented Allen & Overy at the CCME ceremony.

"I was delighted to receive these prestigious awards on behalf of the whole Allen & Overy Middle East team. With the voting panel made up of senior lawyers practicing in the Middle East, it is particularly satisfying to have our achievements recognised by peers and confirms our position as market leaders in the region,” said Nick.

"The number of registrations to enter the awards exceeded all expectations, up over 33% on last year, and the competition to make it to even the shortlists was intense,” said Elias Hayek (vice president legal, EAME division) of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, who chaired the judging panel.

“This year’s winners have demonstrated exceptional achievement and show that in-house legal teams and their external advisers in the Middle East continue to drive growth and innovation, develop new partnerships and complete complex deals.”

Last year Allen & Overy also achieved great success at the awards by winning the International Law Firm of the Year as well as Corporate Team of the Year.
