Allen & Overy further strengthens its U.S. securities practice with the addition of Justin Cooke as a partner in its New York office. The appointment follows the arrival of fellow U.S. securities partner David Flechner in December.

Justin joins from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York where he advised issuers, private equity sponsors and underwriters in a variety of U.S. and cross-border capital market transactions, including SEC-registered and private offerings of debt and equity securities. Justin has also guided clients through transformative transactions including IPOs and public spin-offs. He also advises issuers on their ongoing SEC reporting obligations and corporate governance matters.

Justin’s appointment forms part of the firm's strategy to increase the size of its U.S. securities practice, which currently comprises 25 partners globally.

David Benton, co-head of Allen & Overy’s Global International Capital Markets group, commented: “Justin is an excellent addition to our U.S. securities team, which is a vital component of our global capital markets capability. The depth of his experience, his strong market knowledge and technical expertise puts us in a better position to help our clients achieve their objectives in the coming year.

David Krischer, U.S. managing partner, said, “The ability to advise clients across the full range of corporate finance transactions under New York law is crucial. Justin’s appointment, as well as the recent hire of David Flechner, forms a key part of our strategy to expand our securities practice in the U.S. We are pleased to welcome him to the team.”

Justin received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
