Allen & Overy LLP today announced a further investment in its Middle East and African energy and infrastructure practice with the transfer of partner Shaun Beaton from Allen & Overy’s London office to its Abu Dhabi office.
Shaun specialises in energy and infrastructure project development and construction, with a particular emphasis on I(W)PPs and other projects in the power sector. He has represented developers, contractors, sponsors and lenders on renewable, nuclear and conventional thermal power projects across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Prior to his move to Abu Dhabi, Shaun worked in the Paris, New York and London offices of Allen & Overy.
In addition to being an experienced projects lawyer, Shaun’s 25 years in the energy sector include more than a decade of practice as a professional engineer, a combination that provides clients with unique and valuable insights into energy matters.
Ibrahim Mubaydeen, Abu Dhabi managing partner, said: “We are delighted to welcome Shaun to Abu Dhabi and the wider MENA region. His decades of experience will complement our market leading energy and infrastructure practice and ensure we can continue to provide clients with the highest possible quality of legal advice and sector expertise.”
Shaun commented: “It’s fantastic having the opportunity to work in our Abu Dhabi office alongside the leading energy lawyers in the region. I am very much looking forward to joining the team.”
Shaun joins the Middle East team shortly following the hire of Judith Kim in Allen & Overy’s Dubai office and complements Judith’s projects development and energy M&A expertise in the oil and gas sector.
Allen & Overy’s global Projects group comprises over 70 partners globally and includes some 250 lawyers. Our teams have been recognised by numerous independent deal monitoring tables:
