Financing the Economy webinar
In partnership with the Alternative Credit Council, the major themes from the Financing the Economy 2020 report, a global study into the state the private credit market, were brought to life in an exclusive panel session to help launch this year’s report.
A&O partner Tim Watson was joined by Taj Sidhu, Managing Director at Carlyle and Jiri Krol, Deputy CEO at ACC, to discuss the latest market trends and key findings from the research.
The report highlighted that private credit managers continued to be a vital source of finance to borrowers during 2020. The sector is on track to invest more than USD100bn during 2020 and set to do the same in 2021. Private credit as a sector was quick to respond to the Covid-19 situation. Capital raising for private credit strategies had not reduced over the past year, with investors continuing to recognise the stability of the asset class and its ability to generate income. The survey showed that the impact of 2020’s economic disruption had not been evenly felt across the sector. The report also highlighted how private credit managers have worked with businesses facing stress and offered pragmatic support when this was most needed.
